Salmon in the Classroom Newsletter, December 2007
Fish Release Time!
If you have not already released your fingerlings, please do so before the holiday break. Once they have been released, please send the release information to swilkinson@salmonintheclassroom.org so that Sarah Wilkinson can fill out and send in your planting report.
The information needed for these reports is:
- Date of release
- Stream released in
- Nearest cross street
- Number released
Remember, continuation of permits for this program requires that all planting reports are submitted to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in a timely manner.
Eggs
Normally in the December Newsletter you will find a schedule of times and places to sign up to pick up you eggs in mid to late January. This year, you will see that in the January Newsletter, so please keep an eye out for it!
Do You Know Your Filter?
Name: Aquaclear 300 (now known as the Aquaclear 70)
Maximum Gallons Per Hour: 300
Cartridges used:
- Hagen AquaClear 70 Foam Insert - Filters out large matter
- Hagen AquaClear 70 Activated Carbon Insert - Removes water impurities
- Hagen AquaClear 70 Ammonia Remover Insert - Removes Ammonia
There are many places you can get these online for cheaper than the store, but I would recommend That Pet Place, as they have always shipped item promptly and have great prices.
If you would like to purchase them locally, they can be found at most pet shops and Petco always has them.
Most of all, never run your filter without water! If it has been off and you want to turn it on, make sure to fill it with water before you turn it on.
